Newsflash: Cynthia Jele winner of the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best First Book – Africa Region

Cynthia JeleHappiness is a Four-Letter WordKwela Books and NB Publishers are delighted by the news that Cynthia Jele has won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for Best First Book – Africa region, for her novel Happiness is a Four-letter Word.

This book is an enthralling read about human frailties, conflicts and sometimes difficult resolutions in the search for happiness. Happiness is a Four-letter Word will now go on to compete against books from other Commonwealth regions for the overall best first book award of £5 000. This will be announced at the Sydney Writers Festival in May.
