Eugene Goddard Believes Mangaung Will Prove William Gumede’s Restless Nation Right
A collection of William Gumede’s columns for various publications, such as The Guardian and Sowetan, has recently been published by Tafelberg Publishers as Restless Nation: Making Sense of Troubled Times. In an article for Business Day, Eugene Goddard discusses the unfortunate truths in Gumede’s book and how the ANC’s electoral conference in December at Mangaung will prove Gumede right:
IT IS probably just as well that publishers were reluctant to go for William Gumede’s idea of publishing a volume of his columns in 2006. The political journalist, widely renowned for his polemical insights into the ruling party’s internal machinations, was still surfing the wave of success from his 2005 bestseller, Thabo Mbeki and the Battle for the Soul of the ANC.
