Dries Brunt Discusses David Williams’ Springboks, Troepies and Cadres
In this article for The Citizen, Dries Brunt takes a look at David Williams’ Springboks, Troepies and Cadres and the 100-year history of the South African army recounted in the book.
He says that “the army deserves every South African’s full respect for the manner in which it served our country and the world” and blames political interference for the bad wrap the army has received.
Established as the Union Defence Force by an Act of Parliament in 1912, the army saw its first major action in South West Africa, eliminating the German military command in that country.
